The McHenry County Bicycle Club (MCBC) was established in 1981. Although our focus is on cycling, we've evolved into an organization that enjoys seasonal activities year-round.
We welcome all riders, from beginners to experienced touring cyclists. Our easy riders prefer shorter routes at a leisurely pace to stop and smell the roses. The intermediate cyclists pedal at a moderate pace over distances of 20 to 40 miles, while the fast-paced group hammers it home at more aggressive speeds and mileage. During the riding season, road and trail rides are scheduled on weekends and/or weekday mornings and evenings. Before each event, notice is sent via the Club's email event line to all members.
Most rides include stops for culinary delights (food or ice cream) and lively social discourse. After all, why ride if you can't eat!
Seasonal activities also include monthly camping outings from May through October, with an emphasis on bicycling the area's rural roads. Non-cycling members explore local shops and nearby hiking trails.
With the arrival of colder weather, our members hike, snowshoe, and cross-country ski in an attempt to stay fit during the "off" season.
